Cathie grew up in London but has lived in Devon ever since studying music at Dartington College of Arts.\n\nShe taught the piano at Exeter School for many years, but a series of short story competition successes led to swapping keyboards and taking a life-long love of writing more seriously. For several years she lectured in creative writing at Exeter College, and her experience there led to setting up CreativeWritingMatters.co.uk and the Exeter Novel Prize, with novelists, Margaret James and Sophie Duffy.\n\nShe co-authored three writing guides including the best-selling The Creative Writing Student’s Handbook. \n\nHer debut novel, Secret of the Song, was shortlisted for the Hall \u0026amp; Woodhouse Dorchester Literary Festival Prize and a No 1 bestseller on Kindle UK. Her latest novel Notes from the Lost has been shortlisted for the 2020 Selfies. It is set in contemporary Exeter and the Italian mountains during WW2. \n
